Active Data Archival
Active Data Archival
Object storage platforms are ideal for creating actionable data archives. Extensive metadata capabilities directly expose valuable information about your data, enabling you to dynamically catalog and search content in a variety of ways.

Establishing an environment where legacy systems can easily deposit content into the object store and expose metadata is a challenge. Modifying existing systems to utilize the object store API requires careful preparation. Developer time is required to code against the API. IT time is required to adapt existing workflows. Each application interfacing with the new code must be configured and tested for compatibility.
The Maldivica Storage Connector allows you to easily transfer archive data from existing platforms using NFS or CIFS directly to the object store for permanent and accessible storage without any development time.
Maldivica Storage Connector with a Digital Archive
Digital assets can be tagged with extensive information in an object store. Search capabilities built on top of the platform dramatically simplify and accelerate retrieval of specific content by using these tags. Metadata may be searched and referenced directly without accessing the data files, saving time and network resources. However, creating the tags for these assets can be a tedious, time-consuming process, particularly when much of the important information is already available in the existing file.

The Maldivica Storage Connector has a powerful built-in metadata extractor for a variety of digital formats providing automatic meta-tag creation for attributes like author, title, location etc. Supported formats can be automatically parsed with the metadata extracted and added as metatag attributes. Combining Maldivica with object storage provides a scalable, economical way of creating active and usable archives.
